Furniture Shipping Company from Saudi Arabia to China 0506688227 Your Permit Comes Before Your Container
Guide summary

Furniture shipping from Saudi Arabia to China — the destination where what is decided is not how much you pay, but whether your shipment moves at all. Importing requires a permit, the permit requires a residence and work permit valid for a year, and any missing link stops the whole chain. A container without a permit leaves for no sum.

Looking for a shipping company from Saudi Arabia to China that knows your shipment can reach the port and still not leave it? Tiger Cargo Express ships furniture, cargo and boxes to Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and the rest of China — by sea and air, with dismantling, packing and reassembly, customs clearance at both ends, and insurance on the load. To book: 0506688227

The route heads east through the Strait of Malacca then north into the China seas — one of our longest lanes, but one that ends at the world’s largest and most efficient ports.

What sets China apart from every destination before it in our series is this:

Here what is decided is not how much you pay — but whether your shipment clears at all.

At every previous destination the question concerned the size of the bill: a higher tier or a lower one, relief or duty. Here the question is harder: do you hold the paper that lets your shipment leave the terminal?

Because importing your effects requires an import permit, and the permit cannot be applied for until you hold a work permit and a residence permit valid for a full year. Without them the shipment cannot be cleared from the terminal at all — and it sits there while the meter runs.

1year of residence before the permit
1relief, granted once
20categories outside the relief
2weeks for clearance and quarantine

What do we ship from Saudi Arabia to China?

The traffic on this lane is largely professional: people relocating on work contracts, and Chinese nationals returning after years abroad.

Household furnitureA whole home or part of one — and its fate hangs on the import permit rather than its contents.
Boxes and small shipmentsA few boxes rather than a container — priced by volume or weight, with the same inventory and tracking.
Household appliancesFridge, washing machine, television — and some fall within the twenty categories on which duty is collected regardless.
Relocation on work contractsAnd this category specifically is what the permit route is built around.
Motor vehiclesOutside the relief — and under technical constraints, not merely financial ones, explained shortly.
Diplomatic mission shipmentsBeijing — the one category that waits for no individual permit.

The import permit — and what precedes it

Import permit, work permit and residence permit for shipping from Saudi Arabia to China
Two permits before a permit — and that is the order of the whole file.

Your effects do not enter China on a declaration filled in on arrival, but on an import permit issued by the competent customs authority, against which the goods are examined at the point of entry.

But the permit itself cannot be applied for in a vacuum — it rests on a condition that comes before it:

⭐ A chain of three that does not break
① A work permit and a residence permit valid for a full year

② Then the import permit application is filed

③ Then — and only then — your shipment clears
And any missing link stops the whole chain.

The plain consequence: a foreigner who does not yet hold a work and residence permit for a year cannot have their shipment cleared from the terminal — and storage and demurrage accumulate until the papers are complete.

This is the hardest thing about this destination: the problem is not a charge you pay, but a container standing that no sum of money will release.

Destination What does the system decide?
The Philippines How much you pay — a higher tier or a lower one
Thailand How much you pay — relief or full duty
Indonesia Whether this item enters — at item level
⭐ China Whether your shipment moves at all — at whole-shipment level

And the returning Chinese national — a condition set by the mode

⭐ The sea asks twice what the air asks
A returning Chinese national has a route of their own, but one that distinguishes between the two modes in a way we have seen nowhere else in the series:For an ocean shipment: evidence of having worked abroad more than one year
For an air shipment: six months is enough

The evidence required is a work permit or visa from the country of residence.

And the practical consequence is real: someone who spent only eight months abroad may be able to ship what they need by air — and not able to ship a container by sea.

⚠️ More important still: a returning national with no evidence of foreign residency at all pays full duty on their household goods and personal effects. Evidence here is not a tier improvement — it is the difference between full relief and full duty.

A note on this section
What we set out is the framework as we work with it in practice, and some details are decided case by case by the competent authority and can differ between cities. Requirements are subject to updating. So we review the position in force with you before booking. We prepare the file and coordinate the timing — we do not provide legal, tax or immigration advice, and we do not promise a permit that is not ours to grant.

The relief is granted once

Once the permit issues, a second rule governs what enters relieved and what does not:

⭐ Once, not repeatedlyArticles for personal use are released duty-free the first time — the benefit is spent and does not renew annually.
⭐ Twenty categories excludedA list of items on which duty is collected whatever your position — and we check your list against it before packing.
A reasonable quantityImports are limited to what counts as a reasonable quantity for personal use — not commercial volumes.
Vehicles excludedEntirely outside this relief — on a route and under constraints of their own.
And what does “once” mean for your planning?
That there is no room for instalments — as in Thailand, though for a different reason. In Thailand the limit is on the number of shipments. Here the limit is on the occasion itself: whatever does not travel in your first batch may find no benefit waiting for it later.

So we sit with you for a single decision session and settle what travels now, what is left behind, and what is bought there.

Here the first shipment is not a beginning — it is the opportunity.

Shipping for embassies, consulates and their staff

The one category here that waits for no individual permit.

Shipments for diplomatic and consular missions and their staff do not pass through the personal-effects route and are not bound by its conditions — not the year-long residence requirement, not the individual import permit application, not the “once only” rule. The basis here is the status of the mission or of your accreditation with it, and the reference framework is the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.

And this is the clearest difference from every other client here
We explained above that our ordinary client waits on a chain of three: residence, then permit, then clearance. And that any missing link stops everything.A mission file does not travel that chain at all. The official correspondence precedes the shipment and stands in place of the individual permit, and status is evidenced through the channel rather than through residence.

The “relief granted once” rule is not read against it on that logic either.

And a diplomatic vehicle enters free of duty and tax — contrary to everything we will say in the next section about individuals’ vehicles.

The first question here is: “what is the consignee’s status, and who corresponds with us officially?” — not “has your permit issued?”

Official mission cargoOffice furniture, fit-out, equipment and vehicles in the mission’s name — the consignee is the mission itself.
Accredited staff effectsFurniture and personal effects for the diplomat and family, at the start of a posting or at its end.
International organisationsTheir presence in Beijing and Shanghai is extensive — treatment set by status and headquarters agreement.
  • We settle the status first and build the file on it — not the other way round.
  • We do not put mission cargo through the individual permit route nor wait on a residence that does not concern it.
  • We start with the competent department, not the individual — the official correspondence is the foundation of the file.
  • We match consignee name and title between the correspondence and the bill of lading word for word before issuing it.
  • We document the inventory to a higher standard and hand it over endorsed by both sides.
  • We handle everything in confidence — information, contents and movement schedules alike.

And we are clear: what the exemption covers and how far it extends is for the competent authorities in the receiving state to determine, and the mission has its own official channels. Our role is purely logistical. We work in both directions: foreign missions in the Kingdom, and Saudi missions in Beijing.

Car shipping — technical constraints, not just financial ones

Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to China with a vehicle secured inside a container in a yard
Here the vehicle is not asked only about its value — but about its specification.

And here things differ from every destination before. At most of our destinations the problem was financial: duties high enough to make shipping pointless. Here technical constraints are added that may prevent registration altogether.

The constraint What it means for you in practice
⭐ Left-hand drive only Saudi vehicles are left-hand drive — so this works in your favour, but it is checked before booking
⚠️ Diesel prohibited An absolute constraint — and no payment resolves it
The compulsory certification Models listed under it are markedly easier to register than those outside
⭐ Your city’s environmental standard It differs from city to city — and is checked with the local authority in your destination city
One vehicle per person And for those meeting the long-term residence conditions
Duties and taxes Import duty, value added tax and consumption tax
And our advice here is explicit
At most of our destinations we say: “run the arithmetic”. Here we say something additional: check the specification before you calculate anything.A diesel vehicle will not enter however favourable the arithmetic. And a vehicle outside the compulsory certification may enter and then stall at registration — by which point you have paid both its duty and its freight and have no plate.

And China is an enormous car market — in manufacturing, in variety and in price. So in most cases selling here and buying there works out cheaper by a wide margin, and we say so even when it costs us the whole line.

If your case genuinely justifies it, we review the model, year of manufacture, fuel type and engine capacity with you before booking, and prepare its file separately from the household file — because tying the two together makes a problem in one a problem in the other, at a port where standing costs are high.

Furniture moving from Saudi Arabia to China

And the sequence here begins with your papers, not your furniture.

Furniture moving from Saudi Arabia to China with delivery at a modern residential compound
Delivery to the door — with an inventory check piece by piece.
  • ⭐ Checking the chain first: are your residence and work permits valid for a year? And when does the import permit issue? — before any discussion of volume or price.
  • ⭐ One decision session: the relief is granted once — and we settle with you what travels, what is left, and what is bought there.
  • Survey and assessment: volume in cubic metres — even for a few boxes, because we serve small shipments, not containers only.
  • Screening the dutiable categories: we go through your list item by item and isolate whatever falls outside the relief.
  • ⭐ A loading plan for the examination: restricted and dutiable items are loaded near the container doors — a small detail that saves a great deal of time.
  • A detailed inventory with precise descriptions: not “assorted electronics” but the item, model and quantity, because a general description slows the examination.
  • Professional dismantling, unpacking and reassembly: in your new home, with an inventory check piece by piece.

Ports of entry — the largest in the world

Sea freight from Saudi Arabia to Shanghai with a vast container terminal and rows of cranes
Here the quay is not the obstacle — the paper that precedes it is.

And this is a contrast worth noticing: at our previous destinations the port itself was an obstacle — congestion at Cat Lai, examinations running days in Malaysia. Here the ports are among the largest and most efficient in the world, and the quay runs smoothly.

The obstacle has moved from the quay to the paper. Your container may berth exactly on schedule — and then stand because your permit has not issued.

Port Location Best for
⭐ Shanghai The eastern seaboard The most frequent by a wide margin — serving Shanghai and the Yangtze delta
Ningbo-Zhoushan Zhejiang — south of Shanghai A practical alternative to Shanghai — and among the world’s largest ports by tonnage
⭐ Shenzhen · Guangzhou Guangdong — the south The natural choice for the Pearl River delta — saving a very long overland leg
Tianjin The north — near Beijing The closest to Beijing — anyone routing there via Shanghai crosses the country
Qingdao · Xiamen Shandong · Fujian For the north-eastern and south-eastern provinces
Air — Beijing and Shanghai The international airports And a particular advantage for returning nationals — six months suffices by air against one year by sea

China is a continent rather than a country in terms of distance. Anyone living in Beijing whose shipment routes through Shanghai pays for a very long overland journey that Tianjin would have removed. We weigh the port by your city, not by what is convenient for us.

Ways to ship — sea and air

Sea ⭐The most efficient option for medium and large volumes. We do not pass through the Suez Canal but head east through the Strait of Malacca then north — one of our longest lanes, though schedules are dense.
⭐ Air — an advantage with no parallelFor a returning national: six months of foreign residence suffices by air against one year by sea. Here the mode changes the eligibility condition itself — not merely the timing.
Sea then a long road legInland distances are enormous and the network excellent — but the wrong port adds thousands of kilometres.
⭐ A case where a returning national genuinely gains from air
Someone who spent eight months outside China and wishes to return: does not meet the ocean condition (more than a year), but does meet the air condition (six months). That opens a practical option: a curated air shipment now with what they actually need — rather than waiting another four months or paying full duty.

We know of no other destination in our series that ties the eligibility condition to the shipping mode in this way.

Full container, shared load or boxes?

Aspect Full container Shared load Boxes or air
When it suits you A whole home A room or two plus appliances Curated essentials
⭐ Exposure to a late permit The heaviest — a daily standing charge on a full container Others may delay you — or you them The lightest — and an easier condition by air for returning nationals
Loading order for the examination Possible and important — restricted items near the doors Harder — the order is not yours alone Not applicable
Pricing A fixed container rate Per cubic metre with a minimum Per box or by volumetric weight

Note the second row. When the obstacle is a paper rather than space, the size of your shipment becomes a measure of risk rather than of cost alone: the larger it is, the more a day’s delay costs you. So we sometimes prefer a smaller shipment that arrives safely over a full container waiting on a permit.

Shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to China

The price is built on the survey and your delivery city — and on the readiness of your papers before either.

Shipment type or line Price Unit and notes
Boxes and small shipments Request a quote — set by survey Per box or by weight
Shared load (LCL) Request a quote — set by survey Per cubic metre with a minimum
20ft / 40ft container Request a quote — set by survey A mid-sized flat or a full house
⭐ Air freight Request a quote — set by survey By volumetric weight — and an easier condition for returning nationals
⭐ The import permit file Set after your file is reviewed A line with no parallel — preparing the application and following it to issue
Clearance and quarantine Set in the quote, by your destination Together they may run up to two weeks
⚠️ The vehicle and certification file Set after your file is reviewed Entirely separate — and preceded by a specification check, not a calculation

Note the fifth line — a line you will not find at another destination. Preparing the permit application and following it to issue is real work rather than a formality, and it is the difference between a container that leaves and a container that stands.

What actually sets your price?

⭐ The readiness of your papers, before anythingThe factor most specific to China — a late permit adds standing that has nothing to do with your volume.
The port and your cityChina is a continent — and the wrong choice is thousands of kilometres overland.
Volume, not weightSea freight is priced by cubic metre. A light sofa takes more room than a heavy box of books.
How much of your list is dutiableWhatever falls within the excluded categories changes the customs bill, not the freight bill.
Whether there is a vehicleA separate file — and preceded by a specification check, not a financial calculation.
Delivery difficultyGated compounds and towers with fixed moving windows — costed in advance.

Documents required

⭐ The status file — first in sequenceThe work permit and the residence permit, both valid for a year · passport with the entry and visa pages · and for a returning national: evidence of having worked abroad — a work permit or visa from the country of residence. No permit application is filed before this file is complete.
The shipment fileThe import permit once issued · the detailed inventory with precise descriptions and values · a bill of lading with an explicit destination · proof of the delivery address · clearance authorisation · and a separate schedule of restricted and dutiable items so their loading near the doors can be arranged.
The two questions we open with
First: are your residence and work permits valid for a full year? — and when did they issue? And if they are not yet ready, the question becomes: “when do you expect them?” — because we build the sailing schedule around that date rather than around when your furniture is ready.

Second — for a returning national: exactly how long did you work abroad? — because the answer sets the mode: more than a year opens the sea, six months opens the air.

And the first question is the one we refuse to schedule without. Anyone booking you a vessel without asking about your permit may deliver your container to a port you cannot get it out of.

Clearance, quarantine and standing charges

We handle clearance at both ends. A container has a limited free period at the arrival port starting from discharge rather than from your notification, after which a daily charge applies for it remaining and another for late return to the shipping line.

And a line we rarely mention elsewhere is added here: quarantine. Clearance and quarantine together may run up to two weeks — a normal duration rather than an obstruction.

⭐ And the most dangerous kind of standing here is one money cannot solve
At every previous destination standing was a financial problem: you pay and your shipment leaves. Here there is a different kind altogether: a container without a permit. It does not leave for any sum — it waits until your papers are complete, and the charges accumulate throughout.

So we work backwards on this lane: we build the schedule from the permit date, not from when the furniture is ready. And if your permit is not close, we delay the sailing rather than rush it — even when that means delaying the booking with us.

A shipment that sails late is far cheaper than a shipment that arrives early and stands.

Prohibited and restricted items

  • Flammables and pressurised goods: aerosols, paints, solvents, fuel and gas — excluded entirely.
  • Weapons, ammunition and explosives: of all kinds, including replicas.
  • ⭐ Printed matter, films and photographs: whatever is deemed detrimental to political, economic, cultural and moral interests is prohibited. We review with you what travels from your library.
  • ⭐ Radio transmitters and receivers: and communication security equipment — declared on arrival and never folded into “assorted electronics”.
  • ⭐ Antiques: declared on arrival — and under their own controls.
  • Foodstuffs from affected areas: prohibited · and plants, animals and their derivatives are declared and subject to quarantine.
  • New goods in quantity: treated commercially rather than as personal effects.
  • Untreated timber: every crate and pallet needs approved treatment.
⭐ An operational detail that saves days — and nobody mentions it
Restricted and dutiable items are best loaded near the container doors so they can be reached easily during examination. It sounds like a small detail, but its effect is large: an inspector who reaches what they want in minutes does not empty the whole container.

And the reverse is costly: a box of electronics buried deep may mean a full unload and reload — an extra day of standing, or more.

So we set a written loading plan before packing rather than loading as it comes.

Packing and insurance

The challenge on this lane is a sharply varied climate — the north bitter in winter, the south tropically humid — and the possibility of longer standing while a permit is awaited.

⭐ A loading plan, not a random orderRestricted and dutiable items near the doors — written into a diagram handed over with the inventory.
⭐ Packing that tolerates waitingWhere standing is possible, we pack for a longer period rather than for a voyage alone.
Two climates, not oneHumidity protection for the south, expansion and contraction protection for the north — calculated by your destination.
Cover that includes standingWe verify in writing that the policy covers the waiting and quarantine period, not only the sea voyage.

Inland delivery after clearance

  • ⭐ Continental distances: China is more like a continent — and the right port removes thousands of kilometres.
  • Excellent road and rail networks: and this works in your favour — inland transport here is among the most efficient we deal with anywhere.
  • Gated residential compounds: access rules and moving windows — booked with management in advance.
  • High-rise towers: service lifts by appointment — arranged before delivery day, not on it.
  • Winter in the north: it slows the roads and affects handling — we allow a written margin.

The reverse direction — China to Saudi Arabia

We work both directions on the same ports and routes. And this direction is the denser one on our lane — China is the world’s largest exporter, and traffic from it to the Kingdom is daily.

The dominant traffic is furniture and furnishings, electronics and components, building and finishing materials, equipment and machinery, spare parts and textiles, alongside the effects of those returning or relocating.

And we note that Chinese export controls have their own logic — particularly for antiques and heritage pieces — and that Saudi import restrictions have theirs. We review your list before loading in both directions.

How to choose a shipping company to China

“When does my import permit issue?”Anyone booking you a vessel before asking may deliver your container to a port you cannot get it out of.
“Is my residence valid for a year?”Anyone not asking this does not know the permit rests on it.
“How long did I work abroad?”For a returning national — the answer opens the sea or opens the air.
“How will you arrange the loading?”Anyone not planning for restricted items near the doors may cost you a full unload.
“Tianjin or Shanghai?”Anyone not asking about your city may add thousands of kilometres.
“What fuel does my car take?”Anyone not asking may ship a diesel that will not enter whatever you pay.

Our written guarantees

⭐ The schedule is built on the permitNot on when your furniture is ready — and we delay the sailing if needed, even losing the booking.
A written loading planHanded over with the inventory — restricted items near the doors by design, not by chance.
Specification check before arithmeticFor a vehicle — so we do not price a diesel that cannot enter.
One decision sessionThe relief is granted once — and we settle with you what travels and what is left.
A port chosen by your cityTianjin for Beijing and Shenzhen for the south — not everything through Shanghai.
One point of contact to the endOne person following your file from survey to the last box handed over.

How to lower the cost of your shipment

  • Do not sail until your permit is close. The biggest saving on this lane is not in the rate but in the timing — a container waiting on a permit costs more than any rate difference.
  • Returning nationals: use air if your year is not complete. Six months suffices by air — and a curated shipment beats waiting four more months.
  • Plan for the single relief. It is granted once — so fill your first shipment with what deserves it.
  • Arrange the loading for the examination. Restricted items near the doors — minutes at packing save a day at the port.
  • Choose the port by your city. A shipment to Beijing via Shanghai crosses the country for nothing.
  • Settle the vehicle on specification first. Diesel will not enter — and there is no point costing what is not allowed.
  • Allow full dismantling. It cuts volume appreciably, and volume is the invoice.

When do rates rise and transits lengthen?

Period or situation What happens
⭐ Lunar New Year — January and February The largest pause in the world’s shipping year — a broad administrative and operational slowdown before and after. We schedule around it, not into it.
⭐ The pre-holiday export peak China is the world’s largest exporter — and the outbound peak lifts rates and crowds the inbound.
The October national holiday An administrative pause affecting both clearance and permit issue.
Winter in the north Slows the roads and handling — affecting Tianjin and Dalian especially.
Disruption on sea lanes Moves rates generally — though its effect is smaller here because we do not pass through the Suez Canal.

How we work: five steps

1Checking the chainResidence and work permits, and when the import permit is expected.
2The single decision sessionWhat travels, what is left and what is bought there — the relief is granted once.
3A quote built on the permitA sailing date worked from the permit date, with its file line declared.
4Packing to a loading planRestricted items near the doors, a precise inventory, and packing that tolerates waiting.
5Clearance and deliveryWith quarantine, then delivery to your door and an inventory check with you.

Five recurring mistakes — all avoidable

  • Sailing before the residence and permit are complete. The mistake most specific to China — and a container without a permit leaves for no sum.
  • Assuming the relief repeats. It applies to the first time — and splitting may waste half of it.
  • Returning without evidence of foreign residency. For a returning national — and the result is full duty, not a lower tier.
  • Shipping a diesel vehicle. An absolute constraint that payment does not resolve — checked before booking, not after.
  • Loading at random with no plan. A restricted box buried deep may mean a full unload.

Why Tiger Cargo Express?

Because we build the schedule on your permit, not on your furniture. Anyone booking you a vessel before asking about your residence and work permits may deliver your container to a port you cannot get it out of for any sum.

And we delay the sailing when needed even at the cost of the booking — because a shipment that sails late is far cheaper than one that arrives early and stands. We give you a written loading plan that puts restricted items near the doors, and we check your vehicle’s specification before its arithmetic, so we never price a diesel that cannot enter.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from Saudi Arabia to China

How long does a shipment from Saudi Arabia to China take? The route heads east through the Strait of Malacca then north into the China seas and does not pass through the Suez Canal — one of our longest lanes. Then clearance and quarantine are added and may run up to two weeks, and a long overland leg may follow if the port is far from your city. But the largest variable is none of these — it is the date your import permit issues.
Why do you say the permit comes before the container?Because importing your effects requires an import permit issued by the competent customs authority, and the permit itself cannot be applied for until you hold a work permit and a residence permit valid for a full year. It is a chain of three: residence → permit → clearance — and any missing link stops all of it. A foreigner whose papers are incomplete cannot have their shipment cleared from the terminal at all, and storage and demurrage accumulate.
My container arrived and my permit hasn’t issued — what happens? This is the most serious situation on this lane, and honesty first: the container waits and does not leave for any sum. This is not standing that money resolves as at other destinations — it is a halt resolved only by your papers being completed, with charges accumulating throughout. So we build the schedule backwards: from the permit date, not from when the furniture is readyand we delay the sailing even at the cost of the booking.
I’m a returning Chinese national — what is my condition?Your condition differs according to the shipping mode, a distinction with no parallel in our series: for an ocean shipment you need evidence of having worked abroad more than one year, while for an air shipment six months suffices. The evidence required is a work permit or visa from the country of residence. ⚠️ And anyone returning with no evidence of foreign residency at all pays full duty — evidence here is the difference between full relief and full duty, not between one tier and another.
I spent only eight months abroad — should I wait? Not necessarily — and this is a neat practical case. Eight months does not meet the ocean condition (more than a year) but does meet the air one (six months). So an option opens: a curated air shipment now with what you actually need, rather than waiting four more months or paying full duty. We know of no other destination that ties the eligibility condition to the shipping mode in this way.
Does the relief repeat every year? No. Articles for personal use are released duty-free the first time — the benefit is spent and does not renew. Excluded from it are motor vehicles and a list of categories on which duty is collected whatever your position. Practically, that means your first shipment is not a beginning but the opportunity — which is why we sit with you for a single decision session settling what travels, what is left and what is bought there.
What is this about loading items near the container doors? An operational detail of small effort and large effect: restricted and dutiable items are best loaded near the container doors so they can be reached easily during examination. An inspector who reaches what they want in minutes does not empty the whole container. The reverse is costly: a box of electronics buried deep may mean a full unload and reload, costing an extra day of standing or more. So we set a written loading plan handed over with the inventory.
Should I ship my car to China? Here we say something different from our other destinations: check the specification before you calculate anything. The constraints are technical, not merely financial: left-hand drive only — which works in your favour since Saudi vehicles are; diesel is prohibited, an absolute constraint no payment resolves; the compulsory certification makes listed models markedly easier to register; and the environmental standard differs from city to city. A vehicle outside specification may enter and then stall at registration — leaving you having paid both duty and freight with no plate. China is an enormous car market, so in most cases buying there is cheaper by a wide margin.
Can I ship my library and my devices?Yes — with two categories reviewed specifically. Printed matter, films and photographs deemed detrimental to political, economic, cultural and moral interests are prohibited, and we review with you what travels. And radio transmitters and receivers and communication security equipment are declared on arrival and never folded into “assorted electronics” on the inventory. Antiques are likewise declared. We separate these into their own schedule before packing, not after berthing.
I live in Beijing — should I ship to Shanghai? No. China is more like a continent in terms of distance, and anyone living in Beijing whose shipment routes through Shanghai pays for a very long overland journey that could have been avoided. We weigh the port by your city: Tianjin for Beijing and the north, Shanghai or Ningbo for the Yangtze delta, Shenzhen or Guangzhou for the Pearl River delta, and Qingdao and Xiamen for the eastern provinces. The road and rail networks are excellent — but the right port removes thousands of kilometres in the first place.
Do you handle embassy and organisation shipments?Yes, and it is the one category here that waits for no individual permit. Mission cargo does not travel the “residence → permit → clearance” chain at all — the official correspondence precedes it and stands in place of the individual permit, and status is evidenced through the channel rather than through residence. The “relief granted once” rule is not read against it on that logic. And a diplomatic vehicle enters free of duty and tax — entirely unlike individuals’ vehicles. The framework is the Vienna Convention of 1961, and we begin with the competent department, not the individual.
Do you ship from China to Saudi Arabia?Yes — and this direction is the denser one on our lane, since China is the world’s largest exporter and traffic to the Kingdom is daily. The dominant cargo: furniture and furnishings, electronics and components, building and finishing materials, equipment and machinery, spare parts and textiles, alongside the effects of those returning. And we note that Chinese export controls have their own logic, particularly for antiques and heritage pieces, and that Saudi import restrictions have theirs. We review your list before loading in both directions.

In summary

China is the destination where what is decided is not how much you pay — but whether your shipment moves at all. Importing requires a permit, the permit requires a residence and work permit valid for a year, and any missing link stops the whole chain. A container without a permit leaves for no sum — a kind of standing money does not resolve. Added to that, the relief is granted once, and a returning national faces a condition set by the mode: a year by sea and six months by air. Three things matter here: a schedule built on the permit, one decision session, and a written loading plan. Tiger Cargo Express gives you all three before you ship.
